Features of ThermoTurb

ThermoTurb is a robust platform designed for generating mean velocity and temperature profiles along with friction and heat transfer coefficients in canonical turbulent flows. The tool supports several flow configurations, making it suitable for a wide range of engineering and academic applications.

Scientific Basis

The tool uses composite profiles inferred from extensive direct numerical simulation (DNS) studies. For details on the foundational research, visit our References page, and consider citing relevant studies.

Future development

We plan to expand the tool in the future including support for additional fluids, different duct geometries, surface roughness and more.

Direct numerical simulation data

DNS data used for training ThermoTurb are available here. Additional data is available upon request.

Acknowledgements

The synthetic data generated by ThermoTurb have been trained using high Reynolds number direct numerical simulations (DNS) developed over several years. This has been possible thanks to the computational resources provided by the PRACE, EuroHPC and CHRONOS allocations. Resources have been granted on several HPC infrastructures across Europe, particularly at CINECA (Italy) and CSCS (Switzerland).
